Empowering LGBTQ+ and diverse clients to navigate life's complexities.
I’m passionate about helping clients—especially those within the LGBTQ+ community—live authentically and build a strong, empowered sense of self. While past experiences may have made this difficult, with compassion, support, and increased self-awareness, it’s possible to break free from old patterns and create a life rooted in joy and self-acceptance.
With over 20 years of professional counseling experience, I specialize in helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with clarity and resilience. My client-centered approach ensures that your unique needs, goals, and experiences remain at the heart of our work together.
Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or other life difficulties, I'm here to support you. I offer a range of individual therapy services grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Behavioral Activation for depression, psychodynamic psychotherapy, supportive counseling, problem-solving therapy, and grief counseling. Sessions are available both in-person and virtually, offering flexible, accessible care tailored to your needs.
I understand that life can be busy, and attending in-person therapy isn’t always practical. That’s why I offer teletherapy services, allowing you to connect from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Sessions are secure, confidential, and designed to provide the same level of support and care as in-person visits—with added convenience.
Behavioral Activation (BA) therapy is an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals increase engagement in enjoyable and meaningful activities to improve mood and reduce avoidance behaviors, particularly in the context of depression. Often used within a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) framework, BA can also stand alone as an effective approach. By encouraging consistent, purposeful action, it helps reduce stress and anxiety, enhance emotional well-being, and promote a greater sense of balance and fulfillment.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of talk therapy that explores the unconscious processes and past experiences to help individuals understand how they impact your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It focuses on uncovering and resolving unconscious conflicts that may be driving psychological distress to develop a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment. With guidance and support, you can experience more meaning in your life.
Supportive counseling is a therapeutic approach that offers emotional support, encouragement, and validation to help individuals navigate difficult life experiences and psychological challenges. It emphasizes building a strong, trusting relationship between the counselor and client, creating a safe space for healing and growth. Through this process, clients develop effective coping strategies to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall well-being.
Self-esteem counseling can help you build a healthier sense of self-worth and greater confidence. Therapists work with clients to identify and understand the negative thought patterns that contribute to low self-esteem. Through supportive guidance, counselors help individuals replace self-criticism with self-compassion, foster a more positive self-image, and strengthen their relationships with others.
Problem-solving skills are the abilities that enable individuals to identify challenges, evaluate potential solutions, and choose the most effective course of action. These skills are essential in both personal and professional settings, helping people overcome obstacles and make informed decisions. Effective problem-solving often involves related competencies such as critical thinking, communication, and adaptability. Counseling services can support the development of these skills, empowering individuals to manage life’s difficulties more effectively and achieve personal growth.
Grief counseling, also known as bereavement counseling, is a form of psychotherapy that supports individuals coping with significant loss—whether it's the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other major life changes. It addresses the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual responses to loss, helping people process their grief in a healthy way. This type of counseling can be especially beneficial for those experiencing complicated grief, which may require more specialized therapeutic approaches.
Appointments are available by appointment either in person or for virtual sessions.
